Today, the now defunct estate of Voronki in the Tchernigov province of Ukraine is celebrated for being the only place in the country where the Decembrists Prince Sergei Grigorievitch Volkonsky, his wife Princess Maria Nikolaivna Volkonskaya (née Raevskaya) and their fellow Decembrist Alexander Victorovitch Poggio are buried.

…but its history is a rich collage of family connections which bring together the Miloradovitch, Tumansky, Kotchoubey and Volkonsky families. It was also a cradle of 19th century Ukrainian theatrical traditions and can now be seen in a historical context as a storied Kotchoubey estate.
